Pirates are no longer safe anywhere… Whether it’s streaming servers for sports broadcasts or developers looking to pirate video game consoles to obtain games without going through the cash register, Justice and Above all, injured companies are on the lookout for the slightest clue and the slightest misstep.

Already on the hunt for Nintendo Switch emulators since the start of the year, the Japanese company stands out today in a report recounting an investigation against all the members of a Subreddit account.

No fewer than 200,000 members are affected

As reported by our colleagues at Game File, Nintendo has revealed that its investigation against the Switch modder named Archbox, aka James Williams, led it on the trail of other computer pirates. The Japanese company then asked the court for authorization to investigate servers that could host the illicit activities of these suspects. The companies affected are Internet Name Cheap, Go Daddy and Tucows, Cloudflare, GitHub, Discord, Google and Reddit.

Nintendo then discovered a Subreddit account with the evocative name, SwitchPirates. Of course, a name is not enough to incriminate the members of a group, but when she learns that SwitchPirates is moderated by Archbox, there is little room for doubt. The Subreddit account in question has more than 200,000 members, a number of whom allegedly helped the modder pirate consoles and video games. Once these members have been identified, Nintendo will be able to initiate the necessary legal proceedings to stop these illicit activities.

Nintendo had already warned all those who would have the misfortune of hijacking its games and consoles… We are thinking in particular of the case of Yuzu, which made it possible to emulate Switch games on PC and Android or that of the leaker who had leaked images from the artbook that accompanied the Collector’s version of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

Pirates beware, Nintendo doesn’t give up easily!
