Xiaomi unveiled its new inexpensive watch, the Redmi Watch 5, with a large screen and up to a month of battery life
On the occasion of the launch in China of its Redmi K80 Pro, Xiaomi took the opportunity to lift the veil on its new accessible connected watch, its new Xiaomi Redmi Watch 5.
This watch obviously follows the Redmi Watch 4, launched in France at the start of the year at a price of 99 euros. It also fits into the range of Xiaomi watches slightly above the Redmi Watch 5 Lite, launched in October for less than 50 euros.
Un design families
The new Redmi Watch 5 uses a fairly familiar design from Redmi watches, which tends to approach that of the Apple Watch with its square shape with rounded edges. The watch also includes a rotating crown that can be used to navigate the menus.
In terms of features, the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 5 has a very large 2.07-inch diagonal Amoled screen. For comparison, the Apple Watch Series 10 in the 46 mm version is entitled to a 1.99 inch panel. Concerning the definition of the screen, we can count on 432 x 514 pixels, or a density of 324 pixels per inch. Xiaomi is also announcing a particularly bright panel that can reach 1500 cd/m².
The Redmi Watch 5 also has several sensors dedicated to physical activity or health monitoring: optical cardio sensor, optical pulse oximeter, motion sensors and, something rare for this price level, GPS tracking.
Up to one month of battery life
Concerning autonomy, the watch has a 550 mAh battery. Enough to allow, according to the manufacturer, up to 24 days of use in typical mode, 12 days with always-on display and 36 days with energy saving mode.
The Xiaomi Redmi Watch 5 has so far only been announced in China. It is available in black, silver or titanium version from 599 yuan, or 78 euros excluding tax. For a future release in France, we can expect Xiaomi to keep the same price as for the Redmi Watch 4, at 99 euros.
