The first certifications for the next high-end LG G5 OLED TV have just revealed a significant improvement in display performance, notably with the introduction of a 165 Hz refresh rate in Ultra HD.
The Korean manufacturer is preparing the arrival of its new ranges of OLED televisions for 2025. They will be officially unveiled at the next CES show in Las Vegas, which will open its doors from January 7. We will be on site to cover the event.
However, a leak has just revealed a notable feature for the G5 series which succeeds the G4 series. Indeed, certification documents indicate that the 65-inch version of the G5 will offer a refresh rate of 165 Hz, exceeding the 144 Hz of the current model. In addition, we also learn that this television offers a ClearMR score of 10,000 points, representing an improvement compared to the 9,000 points obtained by the 2024 versions.
Remember that ClearMR certification corresponds to the level of sharpness of moving images, therefore in relation to the refresh rate.

LG OLED65G4 review: a TV with even higher brightness
G5 series with MLA technology but not C5 series
LG G5 series TVs will retain MLA OLED technology, combined with the Meta anti-reflective filter, guaranteeing optimal image quality and boosted brightness. The White-OLED panel manufactured by LG Display could offer a maximum brightness of 4000 cd/m² (on very small areas). The range will be available in several formats, notably 55 and 65 inches. A 77-inch version should also be offered.
LG will also offer the new C5 TV series which will succeed the 2024 C4s and positioned as a more affordable alternative to the G5. The exact specifications of the C5, including its refresh rate, have not yet been revealed. However, it seems that, like the C4 series, this C5 series will not benefit from MLA technology. In addition, it could also be “limited” to 144 Hz. Both models have already received their certifications for the South Korean market.
The first images of the C5 and G5 TVs
The IMEET database indicates that the televisions will be marketed under different references depending on the market. For Korea, the 65-inch G5 will carry the reference OLED65G5KNA, while the 55-inch version will be identified as OLED55G5KNA. The C5 will follow a similar nomenclature with the references OLED65C5SNA and OLED55C5SNA.
This database also contains the very first images of the new C5 and G5 televisions. In particular, we can see that the design changes are minimal. So the C5 series would still have a forward-leaning central foot.
The G5 series television, for its part, would be offered with a central stand (certainly optional), like certain versions of the G4 (available only on the brand’s website), although we know that this series is made for be hung on the wall since the brand provides a wall mount for this purpose. The photos also show a much better anti-reflective treatment on the G5 series than on the C5.
