Bad news for Mac owners: Apple is ending this program

The butterfly keyboard scandal was violent for Apple, in more than one way. The company finally backpedaled by launching a vast repair program which, six years later, came to an end. This is an important page in Apple’s history that is turning.

Anyone who is even remotely interested in Apple news has probably already heard about the butterfly keyboard scandal. In 2015, Apple marketed its 15″ MacBook, then considered the thinnest of the time. A finesse never before achieved by a revolutionary keyboard, the butterfly keyboard. In the months and years that followed, the keyboard would regularly be the target of criticism and complaints for numerous malfunctions.

In June 2018, due to the numerous class actions launched against it, Apple developed a vast repair program. The firm or authorized service centers will then repair the keyboard free of charge. “The vast majority of Mac laptop customers have a positive experience with the new keyboard,” the firm rejoiced, touting the positive effects of its program.

But six and a half years later, a page is turning with the end of this program. When we go to the page that allowed us to request a free repair, Apple informs us that this program has ended. Theoretically, everyone who had issues with their keyboard was able to get a repair. For others, however, you will have to buy a new MacBook…
