HANGZHOUChine, November 19, 2024 /PRNewswire/– International online retail marketplace AliExpress continues the festive shopping season with Black Friday deals and discounts of up to 80%. Following this month’s Global Singles’ Day Shopping Festival, the platform continues the discount season with live Black Friday deals from November 22 to December 3.
Le Black Friday has quickly become a new tradition in the shopping calendar in Europemarking the start of the gift-buying season. This year, Europeans plan to be generous with their loved ones, as a new study from AliExpress reveals that more than 90% (91.4%)[1] Europeans[2] respondents will buy gifts for up to 15 people, and that they plan to spend on average more than 50 euros per gift.
European Holiday Gift Buying Trends
In Spaina greater number (95%)[1] of Spaniards plan to buy gifts for until 15 people. At United Kingdom, gift lists are even longer, with 15%[3] of Britons say they will buy for more than 15 people.
Younger generations plan to buy gifts for more people than older generations[2]. Gen Z Europeans are four times more likely (16%) to buy for more than 15 people than Baby Boomers (4%).
Gender comparison of spending
In Europemen generally spend more per gift than women. For example, in Italymen expect to spend 15% more per gift than women (50 EUR versus 43 EUR). In Polandmen will spend (more than 215 PLN) 13% more than women (less than 190 PLN), and in Francemen plan to spend 12% more per gift than women (62 EUR against 54 EUR).
In most markets, the data reveals gender equality in the number of people Europeans will buy gifts for. However, in Germanywomen will buy gifts for more people than their male counterparts.
The rarity of the car–gift
However, among all these gifts, many Europeans rarely think about treating themselves: 13% of European consumers never buy themselves a gift. British consumers are among the most reluctant? a quarter of them (25%) say they would never give themselves a gift? while only 6% of consumers Spanish indicate the same thing.
Throughout theEuropebuyers’ reluctance to treat themselves to a gift is more evident among those over 55, while younger generations are the most inclined to treat themselves to a gift – only 3.84% of 18-24 year olds indicate the same thing.
The data reveals that budgetary constraints are the most common reason (29%) why people refuse to give each other gifts. This is particularly true in Italywhere 37% of consumers are likely to indicate that they feel cramped.
Across all markets, one in ten consumers (11%) say they wait for a discount before buying for themselves, and Polish are the most bargain-inclined, with 14% indicating they are waiting for a price drop.
At the same time, some consumers (14%) simply prefer to give to others. THE French (18%) are the most likely to prefer to buy for someone else, while only 9% of consumers British indicate the same thing.
