Corsair power supplies compatible with future graphics cards!

Small press release from Corsair which is coming to do some self-promotion. Roughly speaking, we learn that Corsair power supplies will be perfectly compatible and capable of powering the future generation of graphics cards. In other words, there should be no power connector changes, especially on NVIDIA graphics cards!

Corsair power supplies, the brand's blocks capable of powering the future generation of GPU !

Basically, with the RTX 40, NVIDIA inaugurated a new power connector. Initially, the company abandoned the classic PCIe 8 pins to turn to the 12VHPWR, a more compact connector allowing high power to be provided. However, the latter was at the origin of a certain number burnt cardshe wasn't sure enough.

In order to improve the safety aspect, adjustments to the dimensions of the pins have been made. In particular, the sensor pins were shortened to prevent the configuration from starting if the connector was insufficiently pressed. This new standard is called 12V-2×6.

In short, in its press release, Corsair indicates that its power supplies are fully capable of supporting the future generation of graphics cards. We therefore imagine that there is no change in connector made by NVIDIA… At least, no change in standard. By using a sufficiently sized block, we should therefore calmly power an RTX 5090 without having to change hardware!

All that remains is to know if AMD will also use 12V-2×6 where if the brand will remain PCIe 8 classic pins.
