The Whatsapp messaging service has released an update introducing several new features. The most important: the draft function. This automatically saves messages written but not sent, to prevent important communications from being forgotten.

Unsent messages are now clearly marked in the discussions overview: they appear at the top of the list and are marked with a green “draft” label. They thus remain clearly visible to users, who can complete them and send them later. Once the message has been sent, the mention disappears.
Dynamic bubble
WhatsApp is also modernizing the design of its conversations. The words “written…” are replaced by a dynamic bubble. This appears directly in the discussion thread and indicates that the interlocutor is writing a message. In groups, the profile photo of the member currently typing is additionally displayed next to the three animated dots.
The update is gradually being rolled out free of charge for all devices via the various App Stores. Some users can already access the new features, others will receive them in the coming weeks.
Best overview in groups
Another important new feature concerns group chats. Whatsapp introduces “Group Highlights” feature, which allows you to receive targeted notifications for certain interactions. For example, users can choose to only be notified when their own messages are mentioned or replied to, rather than having to mute the entire discussion.
This feature aims to reduce clutter in large groups and to facilitate targeted communication. It is currently only available in the beta version. (mho)
