Apple announces wall-mounted tablet with artificial intelligence in March, according to Bloomberg News

Apple plans to launch a wall-mounted display that can control devices, handle video conferencing and use artificial intelligence to navigate apps, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday, citing people with knowledge of the plan.

The product, codenamed J490, could be announced as early as March, according to the report, which adds that it will highlight the new artificial intelligence platform, Apple Intelligence.

Apple did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

The price of the high-end device could reach $1,000 depending on the components used, according to the report, but the price of the screen-only device would be much lower.

The potential launch of the device would come as the tech giant looks to compete with rivals in the smart home market, including Google’s Nest Hub and Amazon’s Echo Show and Echo Hub smart displays.

The AI wall-mounted tablet, which resembles a square iPad and is about the size of two iPhones side by side, has an approximately 6-inch screen and will be offered in silver and black, according to Bloomberg News.

The product will be a standalone device, but it will require an iPhone for certain tasks, according to the report.
