Suddenly, a famous noodle brand decided to partner with a video game… released more than 13 years ago now! In reality, this collaboration is not fortuitous and we will see why. Moreover, the manufacturer was rather clever since this video game has become cult in Japan for a rather funny reason: thanks to the trailer for its reveal during E3 2010 and the facial features and lines of its character!

Cup Noodle, always on the lookout for a video game collaboration… and not only that!

In the world of video games, there is a trend that has widely established itself in a whole bunch of titles, notably service games and other multiplayer-oriented productions: collaborations. The most glaring example is obviously Fortnite who has made it a specialty, giving life today to a meta universe where diametrically opposed characters coexist without it shocking anyone. Besides that, other forms of collaboration have developed and, sometimes, it is the brands that get involved to get a little spotlight in very trendy titles.

In the past, there is a license that has accustomed us to rather improbable partnerships: Final Fantasy. It is not what interests us in this article but it will allow us to make the link with the rest ! For its spring-summer 2016 collection, the luxury brand Louis Vuitton decided to choose the character of Lightning (Final Fantasy XIII) to make her the muse of his new creations. Prestigious on one hand, but also more popular on the other. A few years later, the license had the right to a diametrically opposed collaboration for Final Fantasy XVthis time with a food giant: the Nissin brand and its famous Cup Noodle.

13 years after becoming a meme, El Shaddai has lost none of his comedic power

Yes, Nissin Cup Noodle and the world of video games, it’s a story that works well and lasts. However, the instant noodle manufacturer has not only limited itself to this franchise popular with Japanese players. There have been tons of partnerships like this (Genshin Impact, Jump Force, Monster Hunter) and not only in video games. Today, the brand has decided to return to the charge by formalizing a collaboration with a title that is not new, namely El Shaddaieven if there is a reason behind this publicity stunt: the title has been offered a remastered version (Ascension of the Metatron HD Remaster) a few months ago.

To mark the occasion, Nissin and his Cup Noodles have released an advertising spot, highlighting four varieties of instant noodles and recalling the heyday of the license El Shaddai on the Internet. Because yes, this idea of a collaboration with El Shaddai is clever on the part of Nissin since the title, initially released in 2011, had amused the players, particularly Japanese, when it was revealed at E3 2010. Fallen under the hilarious spell of the character of Enoch, the players quickly made many memes based on his faceputting it in place of that of Sephiroth, Seaman, Hello Kitty or even Kirby. In a short time, the game's bizarre trailer at E3 revealed its potential ” meme » and has been taken up in many wayslike the sentence “ Don’t worry. Everything’s fine. (“Daijoubu da. Mondai nai.”)” which can be heard in the trailer.
