Despite their proven reliability, unfortunately not all iPhones are free of flaws and one of them can be particularly annoying. Apple ended up admitting this and is now offering to repair the affected models free of charge.
iPhone 14 Plus victims of an annoying bug
Released in 2022, the iPhone 14 Plus still remains a good choice of smartphone today. The latter has the advantage of offering a large 6.7-inch OLED screen, although we regret that it is limited to a refresh rate of 60 Hz. We also have solid autonomy and good performance thanks to the A15 chip. Bionic which animates it.
However, a small number of iPhone 14 Plus manufactured between April 10, 2023 and April 28, 2024 are experiencing a rather annoying bug. These may not offer a preview when you use one of the exterior photo sensors. Very annoying thing for taking photos, especially to frame correctly. Unsurprisingly, several users complained to Apple and asked for free repairs.
Apple eventually gave in to the pressure and recognized this malfunction. Obviously, not all iPhone 14 Plus are affected, even if they were produced during the period concerned. If your iPhone 14 Plus encounters this problem, the steps to follow are simple. Just go to support.apple.com and start by entering the serial number of your phone to check if it is indeed affected. You can find it in the general section of the iPhone then in Information.
If the serial number matches the defective models, Apple will fully cover the repair. Likewise, if you have already carried out one beforehand, you can request reimbursement of the costs incurred.
To repair your iPhone 14 Plus, several options are possible; make an appointment at an Apple Store, contact an Apple Authorized Service Center, or contact Apple Support to mail to an Apple repair center.
A rare case at Apple
If Apple does not explain the reasons for this malfunction, this kind of case is actually rather rare at Apple even if a precedent had already occurred with the iPhone 12 in 2021, which had, for its part, encountered a speaker problem.
iPhones are generally among the most reliable smartphones. They also stand out for their long duration of software monitoring (around 5 years), which allows them to support us for several years. A point where certain Android smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Google Pixel 9 now do better with 7 years of assured software monitoring.
Apple has also made efforts in terms of repairability on its latest models and this particularly applies to the iPhone 16, which is the most repairable model to date according to iFixit, a specialist in the field. Battery replacement has been greatly simplified.
