A MacBook Pro M5 looks an awful lot like a MacBook Pro M4
According to Mark Gurman, Apple would not consider no total overhaul
for its MacBook Pro range before 2026. A priori, the firm had expected changes to the design in 2025 with the models equipped with an M5 chip (M5, M5 Pro and M5 Max), but it would have given up on this project, due to concerns regarding the technology. 'display.
The M5s would be substantially identical -externally speaking- to the current generation of MacBook Pro M4 which will be delivered next Friday, and Cupertino would thus follow a four-year cycle in terms of design before modifying it.
What to expect from this redesign of the MacBook Pro?
According to the latest rumors, Apple could move to OLED, based on its experience with the iPad Pro M4. For their part, Ming-Chi Kuo and Ross Young – two renowned analysts – also believe that the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros would continue to have mini-LED screens in 2025.
This new MacBook Pro will also have a even thinner design
(yes, it's possible…). As a reminder, the range had become slightly larger with the transition to Apple Silicon chips. But it seems that Apple has found the way to refine the line again -hoping that this does not come at the expense of the autonomy, heating (or noise) of the device.
Finally, the journalist from Bloomberg also mentions that the M6 chip will likely be burned via a new 2nm process (from TSMC without a doubt), which would allow us to assume a new display technology, this slimmed down design and above all to increase performance.
