AMD welcomes the new Intel Core Ultra 200S processors in its own way

Launched in the middle of August after a fortnight’s postponement, AMD Ryzen 9000 processors are experiencing their first price drop. Currently, Zen5 core processors do not enjoy a very high popularity rating due to performance gains considered too low compared to the old generation. AMD is therefore taking advantage of the imminent launch of its long-time competitor’s processors to lower the price by $30 for the Ryzen 5, 7 and 9 9900X and by $50 for the Ryzen 9 9950X.

Since their launch, the Ryzen 9000 has already seen its price drop significantly, as evidenced by our price report. It remains to be seen whether the drop will be on current prices or launch prices, because in the case of the Ryzen 9 9900, the current price is already lower than the launch price, even with the discount applied.

Faced with the prices announced by Intel for its Core Ultra 200S, AMD will be particularly well placed with systematically lower prices.

The chef’s surprise: the Ryzen 9000X3D

AMD has another surprise to sow doubt among potential buyers of Intel’s Core Ultra 200S: its Ryzen 9000X3D. X3D processors have the particularity of embedding additional cache memory, currently 64 MB, stacked on the processor cores. This excess cache memory is particularly appreciated by video games, which allows better performance to be achieved.

AMD is therefore scheduling the arrival of the Ryzen 9000 equipped with 3D V-Cache technology on November 7, although we do not know whether this is a launch or announcement date.
