ASUS Announces “Exciting” Updates for Z890 BTF Motherboard Coming Soon

ASUS has yet to launch a BTF motherboard in its Z890 lineup, but the company hints that it is working on future products incorporating the technology. Integrating the connectors on the back could easily transform the design of motherboards and components.

ASUS BTF Design and its Perspectives

ASUS introduced its BTF (Back To Front) design last year with the TUF Gaming B760M-BTF model, replacing the traditional design with a more polished layout. This change allowed all connectors to be hidden on the back, providing a cleaner aesthetic to PC setups.

During a recent live stream, ASUS official Juan Jose Guerrero confirmed that there is currently no BTF Z890 motherboard in the launch lineup. However, he emphasized the company’s commitment to developing this technology in the future. This demonstrates a desire to explore new technical solutions.

Delays in rolling out this design can be attributed to a variety of factors, including the prioritization of more conventional products. Indeed, the implementation of BTF designs involves certain technical complexities requiring special attention.

At Computex 2024, ASUS presented a Z890 BTF motherboard concept based on the ROG Maximus Z890 HERO model. The company is actively exploring this new direction, but it appears it is taking the necessary time to refine its designs before launch.

ASUS has also introduced this BTF design for certain GPUs, like the ROG Strix RTX 4090 BTF. Nevertheless, expectations around BTF Z890 motherboards are particularly high, as these latest models could provide a more orderly and aesthetically pleasing PC building environment.

With a growing number of PC cases compatible with motherboards with hidden connectors, many enthusiasts hope to quickly discover official products using this technology. Other brands such as MSI and Gigabyte have also started considering similar designs, indicating that the BTF trend could become more widespread in the market.
