Work in 2025 for the repair of the Mgr-Blanche quay

The Port of Sept-Îles is actively working on the repair of the Mgr-Blanche wharf. After obtaining the necessary financing for this project valued at just over $30 million, the call for tenders was launched at the end of September.

This process will be completed during the month of November.

The port organization wants to start work in spring 2025 and it should last 18 months.

Built in 1956, a major renovation is necessary at the Mgr-Blanche quay. The infrastructure has suffered a general subsidence of up to almost two meters, which submerges it during high tides.

“By rebuilding the riprap, the concrete walls around the terminal and the entire road structure at an adequate elevation, we will have an infrastructure that is much more resilient for the century to come,” says Mr. Leblanc .

The Port is already working on solutions for quay users when the work begins. The tugs will be relocated to a temporary berth.

In collaboration with Destination Sept-Îles Nakauinanu, the Port is also working on a solution for welcoming cruise ships during the work. It is planned that they will dock at the Pointe-aux-Basques wharf.
