Huawei marks its return to the forefront at Station F

Slowly but surely, Huawei is recovering after being the target of heavy American and European sanctions which threatened its existence. But by reinventing itself, in particular by focusing on PCs, connected watches or even wireless headphones to the detriment of its smartphones which are no longer welcome in the West, the Chinese brand is getting back into working order.

As an innovative company, it was keen to be at the heart of the French tech ecosystem, by being as close as possible to startups. This is now done with the announcement of a partnership with Station F. In this context, Huawei will deploy a startup incubation program focused on sustainable development.

10 startups supported over 7 months

On the campus, this initiative aims to support around ten European start-ups engaged in the ecological transition. The Chinese group mainly targets companies that develop software applications in the industrial, retail and mobility sectors. The program will last seven months and interested startups can apply until October 31 to join the very first class. “Huawei will greatly contribute to our international ecosystem on campus”rejoices Roxanne Varza, director of Station F.

By launching its incubation program at Station F, the Chinese giant is occupying a field that was until now well covered by American groups. Thus, Meta and Microsoft already offer support systems within the structure initiated by Xavier Niel. But the latter is welcoming more and more Korean partners, such as Naver and KOSME, and Japanese, like JETRO, which consequently strengthens the Asian presence in the former Halle Freyssinet.

At a time of battles for influence in digital geopolitics, finding a place inside the largest startup campus in the world is important. For Huawei, it is a way of turning a painful page in its existence and fully returning to the light in the French innovation ecosystem. As for Station F, an international showcase for French Tech, it is becoming a hotspot for tech diplomacy.
