Honda NS250F/NS250R – 2-stroke sports bike ready to attack the roads.

The Honda NS250F/NS250R, developed simultaneously with its competition counterpart, is enjoying a boom, marking the Japanese brand’s second foray into the 2-stroke road motorcycle segment, following the launch of the 50cc MB50 model in 1979.

Contrary to expectations, the NS250F/NS250R is not simply a replica of a racing motorcycle, but rather an innovative project that challenges the conventions established by traditional 2-stroke engine manufacturers.

Honda took a bold approach by developing a 90° V-twin engine, a configuration rarely seen in 2-stroke motorcycles. This decision was made to circumvent interference problems between intake ports of adjacent cylinders, typical of 2-stroke engines.

Simultaneous development of the road and racing versions allowed Honda to optimize the engine’s performance and reliability, leveraging lessons learned on the track to improve the production model.

This innovative strategy demonstrates Honda’s determination to establish itself as a strong competitor in the 2-stroke sportbike market, leveraging its own know-how and engineering methods to create a unique advantage in the segment .

The NS250F/NS250R promises to be an exciting and technologically advanced road sport motorcycle that could redefine riders’ expectations of modern 2-stroke motorcycles.
