Samsung Galaxy S24 FE receives October 2024 security patch following recent critical Galaxy bug

Following recent serious issues that affected several Samsung Galaxy models, including the Galaxy S10 and Note10 where a SmartThings Framework update stuck the phones in a boot loop – Samsung is rolling out a new update to strengthen security and the stability of its devices. First on the list appears to be the updated Samsung Galaxy S24 FE (currently $649.99 at Amazon). The aforementioned software error rendered many devices unusable, leading to data loss and 2FA access issues.

Samsung appears to have acted quickly in releasing the October 2024 security patch, even before Google released the update to its own Pixel devices. The update, whose rollout date is listed as October 4, 2024 on the official Samsung website https://doc.samsungmobile.com/sm-s721b/ins/doc.html, includes the following One UI s721BXXS2AXI5 and updates system security, likely fixing OS vulnerabilities.

Although specific details on the issues addressed in the patch are not yet clear, Samsung is expected to release more information soon. As of this writing, the update is rolling out to Galaxy S24 FE users in Asia and Africa (according to Android Trends), and a wider global rollout is underway.

To install the update, users can do so manually by navigating to Settings, going to Software Update and tapping “Download and Install.” Please note that it may take some time for the update to be released to all regions.
