At the start of 2025, road safety published its accidental record of the year 2024. In Occitania, the accident rate has increased by almost 6 % in one year (or 3,786 in 2024 against 3,572 in 2023). What about the Haute-Garonne?
One death per week on average
The last 12 months, 52 people died on the roads of Haute-Garonne, the equivalent ofOne death per week. A figure that has been constantly increasing for a few years (two more people than 2023 and four more than in 2022).
THE vulnerable users represent 65 % of people killed In 2024. People on motorized two wheels alone represent 35 % of those who died on the roads in 2024, an increase in 2023. In total, 10 of the 52 people killed are pedestrians.
Of the 52 people deplored in 2024, the majority are men (44).
Number of injured up
In total, the prefecture is 559 bodily accidents in the year 2024. A figure again in slight evolution (+ 4.5 %) compared to the previous year.
-The number of injured following these accidents therefore also increased, from 655 to 704. Among them, the number of hospitalized people has also increased.
By taking into account only the month of December 2024, this figure flew away, going from 16 hospitalizations to 29, or almost a day.
Towards a decrease in the number of deaths in 2025?
Even if the number of injured and hospitalized people increases, it should be noted thatNo accident was deadly on the roads of Haute-Garonne during the month of December 2024. Conversely, in December 2023, three people lost their lives.
To finish on a more positive note, there was No deaths among users of EDP machines (scooters, skates or hoverboard) with high-Garonne engines all year 2024.
