SAN FRANCISCO (Agefi-Dow Jones)–Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence will be the default conversational robot on the new range of Samsung smartphones, the two groups announced Wednesday during the presentation of the new Samsung Galaxy models.

This partnership will allow the Alphabet subsidiary to reach a wider audience with its suite of AI tools.

Samsung’s Bixby assistant was offered by default on the previous generation of phones and will remain present as an alternative to Gemini.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has set a goal of reaching 500 million Gemini users by the end of the year, the Wall Street Journal reported. The group particularly wants to convince Android phone manufacturers to pre-install it in their models.

Current market leader ChatGPT reaches some 300 million active users every week. It is notably present on iPhones within the Apple Intelligence suite.
