Scammers have developed a new scam: via fake parcel service sites, they steal credit card or eBanking data from sellers on classified ad platforms.
Scammers are increasingly using classifieds platforms to pose as potential buyers and deceive unsuspecting sellers. They offer to make the purchase via a so-called parcel delivery service and thus target sensitive data such as credit card information or eBanking access data.
Now the authorities are also warning about cybercrime on the platform. According to the report, criminals search for ads in a targeted manner and contact sellers through the platform before transferring the communication to WhatsApp. They then send screenshots of fake websites that look very similar to real parcel delivery platforms like that of the Swiss Post.
Through a link or QR code, victims are redirected to the fake website. Depending on the payment method, scammers try to steal credit card information or eBanking data.

With credit card data they carry out unauthorized transactions, while with eBanking access data they can access accounts and withdraw money. Additionally, they bypass security measures such as two-factor authentication by intercepting codes sent by the financial institution.
The police recommend sending suspicious links or QR codes to Cybercrimepolice.ch. In addition, you should never click on links without checking their seriousness. Suspicious websites should also be reported and no sensitive data should be captured.
If data has already been entered, the police recommend blocking cards and accounts immediately. You should also file a complaint with the relevant cantonal police.
