Google’s Web browser will soon offer a “split screen” mode to simultaneously display two Web pages in the same window. A very practical function, and one that has been available for a long time from competitors.
Who says start of the year, says good resolution. In this specific case, Chrome is no exception to the rule. Last December, the browser announced the optimization of its navigation system on Android and the reading of PDFs without any other application necessary. In this month of January, bringing new features, Google’s browser is preparing a function intended for PC users: split (or split) screen. In other words, the ability to simultaneously display the content of two pages (or two tabs) in the same window.
Currently, this function is in the testing phase and “not working yet”report Chrome developers. But an Internet user shared on X a visual of what could soon be implemented on the browser. Thus, by right-clicking on one of its tabs, the Split tab with active tab option appears in the drop-down menu.

If for Chrome, this function is seen as a novelty, it has been available for a long time on competing web browsers like Safari or Opera which already allow you to split a window with a simple click. A very practical option, which offers a real saving of time and comfort for those who need to see several information and web pages simultaneously on a single screen.
Google has not yet communicated any information regarding a launch date for the “split tab”. In the meantime, Chrome users wanting to display two tabs on the same screen will have to continue to do so manually or through an extension or via the Windows Snap function.
