On its Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung has changed the behavior of the S-Pen and not in a good way.
It is the inseparable accessory from Samsung Ultra. Successors to the Galaxy Note, they come each year with an in-house stylus, the S-Pen. Allowing you to draw and take notes, it is also capable of serving as a remote control or taking photos thanks to its Bluetooth connection. Yes, but that may be in the past.
An S-Pen without Bluetooth?
The new Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is here
Xiaomi’s future bestseller has just arrived. This new reference combining impressive features and attractive prices is already on sale at Boulanger.
If the Galaxy S25 (about which we know almost everything) will only be presented on January 22, many modules from Samsung marketing have leaked. We are entitled to a detailed description of the S-Pen, accompanied by examples. And none mention functions that require Bluetooth to work.
We can therefore fear that Samsung has simply changed its communication protocol, which has been used since 2018 with the Galaxy Note 9.
-The promotional images shared by Tarun Vats on X only highlight basic functions such as note-taking, drawing or navigation. To keep the menu appearing when the stylus approaches, Samsung would use magnetic resonance (EMR) technology so that the screen can recognize when it is hovered over by the S-Pen.
The loss of Bluetooth also means lower production costs. And the hunt for savings is in fashion, especially when you have a smartphone that features the Snapdragon 8 Elite, known for its high price. And since Samsung could have frozen its prices, we better understand this concern for savings, if it turns out to be correct. Answer Wednesday.
