It’s official! Sony has announced the cancellation of two unrevealed games. The titles were currently in development at its studios. Namely: Bend Studio at the origin of Days Gone and Bluepoint Games to whom we owe the Daemon Souls Remake. These two projects were games for service (GAAS). They were part of PlayStation’s strategy which focused on microtransactions. That’s not all, we discovered through the Bloomberg media that the God of War saga was involved.

Despite these cancellations, both studios will remain active. “Bend and Bluepoint are talented and respected teams within the PlayStation Studios family. We will work closely with them to determine their next projects.“. Declares a company spokesperson. Sony also wants to limit the impact on employment.

Sony’s live-service strategy has produced hits like Helldivers II in 2024, but also notable failures, including Concord. The latter withdrawn from sales after only two weeks.

Hoping that the industry finally gets its head above water. As far as these two titles are concerned, it’s a blessing in disguise. Most players no longer want this system in video games, so the trend is over.
