Relatively discreet during CES 2025, the manufacturer LG finally woke up by announcing its new ultra-bright OLED panel.
The 4th generation of LG Display OLED TV screens is finally here. Although the Korean brand could have taken advantage of the CES show to present it, it ultimately preferred to wait until the end of the festivities to unveil this new range of televisions which would be “brighter than ever”.
But then, what should we expect with these brand new screens? What are the new features introduced by LG Display to achieve such high brightness? We take stock.
LG reacts after major announcements from its competitors
As we noted in our big review of TV innovations at CES 2025, the LG brand arrived with very light suitcases at the famous American innovation show. On the other hand, its rivals took the opportunity to impress visitors with major innovations, such as Hisense and its famous Micro-LED television 136 inches and 10,000 nits of brightness.
It was therefore urgent for the Korean manufacturer to make the competition understand that it was indeed the boss of the market, and to calm the enthusiasm of the Chinese brands with a new range of Spectacular OLED TVs. According to LG, its innovative screen design would be “33% brighter than the previous generation and optimized for the AI TV era ». That promises.
-In addition to this, the Asian brand specified that it would be “the industry’s first OLED display to achieve maximum brightness of 4,000 nits ». Which isn't entirely accurate, however, because Samsung Display also presented its 4,000 nit QD OLED TV project at CES 2025. Nice try…
Some interesting nuances compared to rivals like Samsung
At present, it is clear that LG's dominance in the OLED TV sector is largely undermined by its competitors. But the Korean manufacturer does not intend to be impressed, because it has many arguments to make with this 4th generation of televisions.
First, he developed a “very low reflection technology” which is very close to what Samsung offers with its famous “Glare Free” filter. Just to catch up slightly on this aspect.
In addition, LG has improved the energy efficiency of its new screens to achieve higher peaks of brightness without excessive consumption of electricity (which remains to be proven). Still, this should further widen the viewing angle and dynamics of its OLED TVs, even if it is a safe bet that the price is also impacted by these innovations…
