It’s no secret that Samsung is planning new smartphones later this month. As a reminder, the company announced the date of its next Galaxy Unpacked event a week ago. Additionally, she explicitly mentioned the “new Galaxy S series,” which she said will “once again set the bar” for “AI experiences” in smartphones.
Samsung’s latest teaser, a 17-second YouTube video, also highlights this notion. Embedded below, the video suggests that Samsung is preparing to introduce a new digital assistant, which the company is trying to convince fans will be a “true AI companion.” It’s unlikely to be a digital assistant from Google, despite the increasing pre-installation of Google services in One UI over the past few years.
Instead, we think Samsung is announcing a new version of Bixy built around Large Language Models (LLM). It remains to be seen whether the digital assistant can accurately answer multi-part questions like those asked below in the real world. All new software features should apply to existing Samsung Galaxy devices such as the Galaxy S24 series, including the non-flagship Galaxy S24 FE model (currently $549.99 at Amazon). Separately, specs for all three flagship Galaxy S25 models were leaked online last week which we covered separately.
