What is this TV with Ambilight?

The Philips 55PUS8009 television has a 55-inch screen, a large diagonal of 140 cm, a perfect standard size for enjoying your films and series. It features an LCD panel with a 4K definition of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels with good brightness and well-calibrated colorimetry. It comes with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ modes which provide a detailed image, visually close to the cinema experience. Concretely, even if the quality of the screen does not rise to the level of OLED, the quality is rather there.

The particularity of this TV is the Ambilight technology. With a set of LEDs arranged on the back and around the television, the television projects a halo of light on your walls, matching the content on the screen. The effect is not essential when watching a film, but allows you to create a pleasant additional light, of the intensity and color of your choice. This allows you to rest your eyes and bring a warm atmosphere to your TV corner. Note that the Ambilight nevertheless lends itself very well to video games.

Players will, however, have to make do with a refresh rate limited to 60 Hz, but will benefit from the ALLM (Auto Low Latency) and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) functions to avoid image tearing and optimize fluidity. Audio level, despite good speakers, a good sound installation, such as a soundbar, will not be too much.

Finally, this Philips television is equipped with the Titan OS interface, a basic but effective interface. The OS is fluid and ergonomic, and offers compatibility with Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant voice assistants.
