WhatsApp collaborates with Google so you can find out the origin of any image sent to you

Metain collaboration with Googleis testing a new feature to curb the spread of misinformation on WhatsApp. According to the specialist portal WABetaInfothe latest beta version of WhatsApp Web includes a tool for reverse image search which allows you to verify the authenticity of images shared on the platform.

Thanks to this new functionality, called “Search the web”users will be able to use the Google search to analyze the images they receive, providing additional context and helping them identify whether an image has been manipulated. By using Google services, WhatsApp will not have access to image content during this processaccording to the report.

WhatsApp has been testing this new feature on its Android app since early November, which can be found in the three-dot menu of the image viewer. The tool allows you to perform a reverse search directly from the platformthus avoiding additional steps like uploading and downloading the images to a browser.

well that Meta has not yet officially announced the launch of this feature, it is expected that it will be available to all users both on WhatsApp Web and on the application for Android in the coming weeks.
