In early December, we reported that Samsung was launching the beta version of its One UI 7 interface. According to a leak from X (formerly Twitter), the new interface will launch in the first two weeks of February. In this context, Samsung has just confirmed that its Good Lock function will be deployed at the same time.
Good Lock app will be available worldwide
Good Lock is a collection of applications that can be used to customize the operation and user interface. Samsung classifies these applications into two categories: “Make-up” and “Life-up”. The first includes applications used to customize the One UI interface, such as the Navstar application, which allows users to customize the navigation bar according to their own wishes and add frequently used functions. The update functions, on the other hand, are designed to facilitate daily use. For example, if you receive a lot of messages, you can use Notistar to filter messages based on certain keywords.
System apps affected by Play Store bug
Placing the app in the Google Play Store is naturally an important step for the distribution of the app, but there remains the problem of some bugs that Samsung has been complaining about for years. Specifically, when an update for a given app is released, the Google Play Store notifies users that the new update is available, but nothing appears in the “pending downloads” list. To work around this issue, users must manually select the app from the Google Play Store and update it from there.
The following applications are currently affected (as of January 2, 2025):
-- Android Switch
- Android System Intelligence
- Google Partner-Setup
- Google Wi-Fi Provisioner
- Configuration services
- YouTube
The list of affected apps was first noticed by 9to5google. This isn’t the only issue plaguing Samsung currently, as recent complaints about peeling screen coverings on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra have shown. Screen protectors like these can help prevent the problem.
