Samsung unveils its first Smart Monitor with OLED screen

Samsung Electronics is kicking off 2025 by unveiling the M9 Smart Monitor, marking the company’s first foray into OLED technology for its Smart Monitor line. This announcement is part of the launch of five new advanced displays before CES 2025.

The new Smart Monitor M9 (M90SF), which succeeds the Smart Monitor M8 from 2022, has an OLED panel. This is a first for the Smart Monitor series. This high-end PC monitor introduces several AI-based innovationsespecially technology 4K AI Upscaling Pro which enhances low definition content using deep learning algorithms. The AI ​​Picture Optimizer automatically adjusts display settings based on content type, whether users are gaming, working on documents, or watching streaming content.

Building on the success of previous Smart Monitor models, the M9 retains the Tizen OS Home systemallowing users to access streaming services and productivity applications without connecting to a PC. A notable addition is the built-in 4K camera, making the display particularly suitable for video conferencing and content creation.

What specifications for the Smart Monitor M9?

The Smart Monitor M9 would be a 32-inch screen with a 165 Hz refresh rateand a 4K definition. Although Samsung has yet to reveal the full connectivity specifications, we can expect the inclusion of HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 ports to support the high refresh rate and high definition of the monitor. The addition of Thunderbolt 4 via USB-C is also expected to meet the requirements of those who use this type of connection.

The Smart Monitor M9 leads Samsung’s ambitious 2025 monitor portfolio, which includes l’Odyssey OLED G8 (the industry’s first 27-inch 4K display with a 240Hz refresh rate) and l’Odyssey OLED G6 (with an unprecedented refresh rate of 500 Hz in QHD definition). The range also introduces the innovative Odyssey 3Doffering 3D viewing without glasses, and the Viewfinity S8 37-inch laptop focused on productivity.
