AMD has confirmed that it will launch its Radeon RX 8000 and 9000 RDNA 3.5 and RDNA 4 series of GPUs early next year, at CES 2025, alongside Nvidia's RTX 5000 series which we recently reported on Nvidia GeForce RTX 5000 which we recently talked about. While these leaks have given us an idea of what we can expect from AMD's next-gen GPUs, it seems like they've been hiding in plain sight for quite some time.
As spotted by a keen-eyed Redditor ( ) on the r/AMD subreddit, AMD has apparently been showing off an as-yet-unnamed graphics card in an official Reddit ad for what seems like a few months. The Reddit ad in question features the box of an AMD Ryzen 9 processor alongside a triple-fan AMD Radeon graphics card.
This design appears to be unique, not yet seen by AMD, and it appears to be a first-party design, bearing no third-party AIB manufacturers' markings on the envelope. All of these clues suggest that this is a new AMD RX 8000 series GPU design, although it's unclear which one. The triple-fan design suggests this is a high-end GPU, and it seems unlikely that AMD will pair its high-end Ryzen 9 CPU with a low-end GPU in an ad, this is so probably from the reference design of the next Radeon RX 8800 XT, or whatever name AMD decides to give it. In fairness, it could also be the recently leaked RDNA 4-based AMD Radeon RX 9070.
So far, all indications are that the RX 8000 series is based on AMD's RDNA 3.5 architecture, which appears to be a moderate update of the RDNA 3 architecture used by AMD for the RX 7000 series GPUs. While this isn't necessarily bad news for budget-conscious gamers and mid-range GPU buyers, it does mean that AMD likely won't be competitive in the flagship GPU space.
