According to its sources, Apple is currently developing a smart doorbell integrating Face ID technology, this would mark its entry into a market dominated until now by Amazon Ring, Google Nest and other players like Anker Eufy.
After experiencing some setbacks in 2024, notably the abandonment of its electric car project, Apple would seek to reinvent itself through three major axes: artificial intelligence, robotics and the connected home.
HomeKit protocol, of course, but also Thread and Matter
Apple's doorbell would rely on Apple's HomeKit protocol and would be compatible with many connected locks already available on the market. The brand would also consider partnerships with lock manufacturers to offer complete solutions from launch.

Apple is also reportedly working on an in-house security camera, intended to directly compete with products from Google and Logitech. This camera would fit perfectly into the Apple ecosystem and allow users to store their recordings on iCloud.
To support these innovations, Apple is developing a new wireless chip called Proxima, which would notably equip the Apple TV and the HomePod. This chip would facilitate the integration of new communication standards like Thread.
