The Nidwalden was only beaten by the Italian Mattia Casse during the first downhill training in Italy. Stefan Rogentin finished as second best Swiss with the 7th fastest time, Justin Murisier struggled.
The Italians did not want to let the spotlight be stolen at home on Tuesday. Mattia Casse set the best time during the first practice of the downhill in Val Gardena to finish 0″44 ahead of Marco Odermatt. His colleague Christof Innerhofer, a true veteran at the start at 40 years old and without great results for several seasons, also beat the French rocket Cyprien Sarrazin by two hundredths to finish 4th. The German Romed Baumann once again slipped into the middle of these beautiful people with the 3rd time.
On this first timed test in the Dolomites, the best downhillers in the world did not spare themselves. But behind Marco Odermatt, the Swiss had more difficulty holding their ground on the famous Saslong. The Vaudois Gaël Zulauf, hoping for a first start in the World Cup this weekend, achieved a very correct 33rd place to maximize his chances.
