Long forgotten, Bixby, Samsung’s personal assistant, is making a comeback with more intelligent features.

Every manufacturer has their own personal assistant. On the Samsung side, it goes by the sweet name of Bixby. First introduced with the Galaxy S8 and S8+, the assistant returns in an AI-augmented version for the upcoming Galaxy S25 launch, reports SamMobile.

An artificial intelligence assistant

To compete with ChatGPT or Google Gemini, Samsung has chosen to integrate AI functionalities for its assistant allowing it to perform more complex tasks.

We learn that Bixby would now be able to understand queries formulated with natural language, extract certain data from applications such as the calendar, navigate to a given point using a voice command or even perform the instant translation of certain internet pages. Other features seem to focus on better understanding smartphone settings, allowing users to more easily find the setting associated with their questions.

For the moment, this new version of Bixby is only available in China on a variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 named Galaxy W25 and W25 Flip respectively.
