Good news if you’re looking for a cheaper Steam Deck OLED, Valve now offers certified refurbished versions on its site.

The Steam Deck OLED is now available in version reconditioned. Sold with a one-year warranty, these units certified by Valve display logically lower prices, offering an economical alternative to those who are hesitant to invest in a new model.

Refurbished Steam Deck OLEDs at a reduced price

Valve offers refurbished models of the Steam Deck OLED from €459, a reduction of €110 compared to a new model. This offer includes the 512 GB version with glossy screen, while the 1 TB model with anti-reflective treatment is priced at €549. The latter therefore costs less than the new 512 GB version, usually priced at €569.

Happy Tuesday! We’ve officially added Steam Deck OLED to our Valve Certified Refurbished program today, and refurbished Steam Deck OLED units are now available for sale in the US, Canada, UK, and EU.

Each refurbished unit goes through a rigorous inspection including more than 100 tests by Valve, ensuring performance equivalent to that of a new device. Models also include a carrying case, remanufactured power supply, and a one-year warranty. However, slight cosmetic imperfections may be present.

An essential portable console

Launched in November 2023, the Steam Deck OLED is still a benchmark for portable PC gaming. In addition to its high-quality screen, it offers improved battery life and slightly better performance than the original LCD version. Compared to other portable consoles, such as the excellent Asus ROG Ally X, it stands out for its ease of use. Although some Windows devices now do better in terms of performance and battery life, the Steam Deck remains a good choice for mobile gamers.

Valve has confirmed that no new version of its Steam Deck will be released immediately. The company expects a significant advancement in chip technologies to deliver a noticeable improvement in performance without compromising battery life. In the meantime, these refurbished models represent an opportunity to access the portable console at a competitive price.
