Things seem to be becoming clearer for Oppo’s future flagship model. It will be called Find X8 Ultra. In all likelihood, it will be equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, unlike its little brothers which use the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip. The device has an imposing 6000 mAh battery using silicone-carbon technology, compatible with charging fast wired 80W and wireless 50W.
The photo part looks particularly neat with a 1-inch main module offering two distinct focal lengths. The system is completed by two periscopic telephoto lenses offering 3x and 6x zooms, like the Oppo Find X8 Pro. In addition, we could also count on the presence of a multispectral sensor developed in partnership with Hasselblad to optimize color rendering.
Exclusive features for the Chinese market
The smartphone integrates several advanced technologies such as an ultrasonic fingerprint reader under the screen and support for satellite communications via the Tiantong network. The screen adopts a 2K definition with curved edges on all four sides. Codenamed “Everest” and model number PKH120, the device has already received its CMIIT radio certification in China. It thus becomes the first smartphone equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite to obtain this approval.
Oppo has confirmed that the Find X8 Ultra will not be sold outside of the Chinese market, a strategy also adopted by other manufacturers like Vivo for their Ultra models. This decision is part of a trend where Chinese manufacturers reserve their most sophisticated devices for their domestic market.
The Find X8 Ultra is scheduled to launch in February 2025, just after the Chinese New Year celebrations. This strategic period could allow Oppo to get ahead of its direct competitors such as the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and the Vivo X200 Ultra, also expected in 2025.
