Their adventure begins in March 2023, when Mina, running out of battery in the RER B, is thinking about a project intended for an association at their school. Realizing that their university did not offer audio support to help them, they decided to do it themselves. It was therefore after a year and a half of work, interrupted by an Erasmus, that “Insomnies” saw the light of day. Thanks to rigorous organization, they manage to record, edit and share their podcast while concentrating on their studies. Their secret? The distribution of tasks: Mina takes care of communication and Louise takes care of editing.
Even if they did not encounter any major difficulties, Mina and Louise had to learn on the job: audio editing, creation of a logo (with the help of a friend), communication management, choice of platform accommodation, purchase of equipment… However, they insist on the importance of their duo. “Luckily there are two of us, alone, it would be too complicated, especially with the lessons,” they explain. To optimize their time, they record several episodes at once, but still spend an average of three hours per week editing.
And the name “Insomnia”? Big fans of coffee and tea, they initially wanted to find something around these drinks, but ultimately found that the idea was not original enough. They then opted for a name that represents student life: staying up late at night, whether due to revisions, the stress of exams or even late discussions with friends.
Mina and Louise therefore prove to us that mixing friendship and professional projects is possible. Friends for many years, they know their limits and, although they take it very seriously, they do not see it as work, but rather as a discussion between friends.
