Waze incident reports are now displayed on Google Maps

Don’t be surprised if you see incident reports from Waze users in Google Maps, Google shares alerts between its two navigation services.

Indeed, Google announced earlier in July that the two applications would cross-reference more data, by integrating into Google Maps more information on road closures, works, speed cameras and police presence from Waze.

This is how Google Maps began to display Waze incident reports during navigation and offers the possibility to contribute by confirming the incident or road conditions in the application using prompts to the screen.

Road cameras

Some cities around the world are adding cameras to enforce speed limits or carpool lanes. Alerts about new camera types on Waze are added by members of the Waze community, who use a combination of real traffic information and public data available from local authorities to update the map.

For example, you will now see an alert if you approach a camera that takes photos for things such as speeding, crossing a red light, using the wrong lane (bus, carpool ), not wearing a seat belt or using a phone while driving.

These alerts provide a helpful reminder of the traffic rules in a given area, allowing you to make adjustments as necessary. New camera types on Waze are rolling out globally on Android and iOS.

Automatic function update

The update will be done automatically for users when its deployment is complete. Users do not have to activate anything or change their settings. That said, the precise date of the arrival of the new functions is not known.
