However, there is growing evidence that Valve is developing a second-generation Steam Controller. Let’s recap, Bradley Lynch revealed that Valve is developing the “Steam Controller 2” under the code name “Ibex”. Today, Lynch shared what he claims is a rendered model of the Ibex, which you can see below.

According to him, the rendering model was recently found in SteamVR driver updates. The same goes for Valve’s new Deckard controllers, the details of which we covered separately. To that extent, Bradley believes the Deckard headset could also support the Ibex controller.

Looking at the Ibex specifically, it looks like the controller relies on the Steam Deck layout with a pair of joysticks placed between a d-pad and ABXY buttons. Additionally, the render model shows two touchpads that have been rotated slightly inward. Based on this image, it appears that the Ibex is much larger than contemporary wireless controllers. This is why Lynch and some of his fans started calling the controller “Steam Duke”, in reference to the infamous Xbox Duke. Unfortunately, other details regarding the Ibex remain unknown at this time.
