Huawei made its first appearance on the Medica 2024 website where it presented its new Watch D2 smartwatch. Medica is a trade fair held in Düsseldorf, Germany for healthcare and medical technology professionals.
The Huawei Watch D2 smartwatch was launched in different markets around the world in September and has already received a software update. The company claims that it is the first medically certified smartwatch that can measure blood pressure 24 hours a day. In fact, it has obtained certification from the European Medical Devices Regulation (EU MDR) and has been approved by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in China. Like the older Watch D, the Watch D2 features a blood pressure cuff worn on the wrist, with a thin air cushion inside the watch band. The device also offers ECG analysis, GNSS positioning and workout tracking functions.
According to a press release published at https://www.huaweiblog.de/news/huawei-watch-d2-auf-der-medica/ huawei says its Watch D2 was positively received by Medica 2024 attendees, including doctors and experts. Additionally, the importance of wrist blood pressure measurement was highlighted in several keynote speeches. The Huawei Watch D2 is sold directly to customers in European countries, including Germany, where it is currently available for 399 euros on Amazon.
