Samsung is preparing to make the Galaxy S25 an excellent smartphone for video games thanks to a new feature. Enough to revolutionize mobile gaming? Maybe so.
According to the latest leaks, the Korean manufacturer is working on a game mode that could well redefine the performance of its smartphones in gaming. For this, Samsung would rely on technology Qualcomm Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2.0 (AFME 2.0). This technology promises something that previously seemed impossible: doubling the refresh rate of games without increasing power consumption or generating excessive heat.
Traditionally, improving the graphics performance of a mobile game involved compromises. Players had to choose between quickly draining the battery or sacrificing visual quality. With this new feature, Samsung seems to want to break this dilemma.
Samsung could make games twice as smooth
The “Game Assist” mode would allow double the refresh rate, from 60 Hz to 120 Hzthus offering fluidity reserved for a handful of mobile games. Titles like Minecraft, Pokemon Go, and Dead Cells would immediately benefit from this improvement.
This development is a continuation of the existing Game Booster, a tool that automatically optimizes system settings according to the needs of the game. But Game Assist seems go much further by promising increased performance without impact on autonomy.

What are the best gaming smartphones in 2024?
Qualcomm technology therefore literally makes it possible to generate high-quality scenes by doubling the refresh rate, while maintaining constant energy consumption. A technical feat that could well make the competition pale, notably Apple. We would thus get closer to the operation of other upscaling technologies such as Nvidia’s DLSS, but here we would be more faced with a frame generation solution, such as Frame Generation.
Although the launch is planned for 2025, Galaxy S25 smartphones equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor are expected to be compatible with this technology. Samsung is also reportedly preparing a complete overhaul of its One UI 7 interface with Android 15, suggesting an even smoother user experience in all respects.
