When a compatible application is running, a new icon will be shown on the engine window. By clicking on it, it will be possible to activate the integration of the third-party application in question (in certain cases, by installing a dedicated plugin beforehand).

In a demo posted on X, OpenAI uses ChatGPT to alter the code of an application under development within In this use case, the process is greatly facilitated and developers no longer have to copy and paste their code into a chat window to review it or obtain optimization suggestions. Additionally, by selecting a portion of text, the query will focus on that section.

Called Work With Apps, this feature relies on the macOS screen reader and therefore uses the system’s accessibility APIs. This also means that only text can be read and processed by ChatGPT, leaving out images or videos. And this is undoubtedly where Apple has a card to play with its native AI.
