Just as Sony did just a few weeks ago with its collector's PS5 pro, Valve is in turn launching with a limited edition white Steam Deck version. Obviously, it's a safe bet that scalpers will pounce on it the day it's released.
White OLED Steam Deck: a release date set
Valve had announced it 3 years ago, but we must admit that a good part of the players had forgotten it since then… However, it is very real: a white version of the Steam Deck OLED will arrive and this time -We have a specific date to communicate to you. The icing on the cake is coming soon! Indeed, the console arrives on November 18 (at 3:00 p.m. PST) in a limited edition.
As for the price of the console, it will cost €40 more than the classic model, i.e. €719. This price increase is in fact only due to the white color since nothing else changes. The console will in fact retain the same technical characteristics.
Reminder of the technical characteristics of the Steam Deck OLED:
- Screen: 7.4-inch OLED panel (800p)
- Display frequency 90 Hz
- AMD Zen 2, 6-nanometer processor
- RDNA 2 graphics architecture (1.6 teraflops)
- Battery life: between 3 and 12 hours thanks to a 50 Wh battery
- 1TB SSD storage
- Connectivity: Wi-Fi 6E
Valve is going to limit the sale of Steam Deck collectors
However, the prospect of scalpers arriving en masse to try to corner most of the stocks is present. At least, it was since Valve also thought about it. In order not to reproduce the same disastrous scenario as for the PS5 Pro, it was decided that each interested person will be able to obtain the console in a limited numbersubject to available stocks of course.
Finally, as this is a global launch, French players will also be able to obtain it without having to resort to importing from a foreign country. Valve indicates that, however, we will have to hurry since, without giving us an indication of the exact number of copies that will be manufactured, production will be extremely limited. Each country will be allocated a proportional stock in order to satisfy as many people as possible.
