The PS5 Pro's disc drive was already out of stock several days before the console's release. It is not available in stores, and scalpers have had a field day.
It had to happen
If the new version of Sony's latest console has only been available since yesterday, this is not the case for its disc player which is, of course, sold separately. Indeed, the PS5 Pro is not an upgrade in every way. Although it promises better performance, the absence of a disc reader remains a step backwards for Sony.

Players in possession of discs find themselves in a complicated situation, the reader being necessary to run games in physical format on the consolelogic. Even if its official price is €119.99, its price fluctuates constantly among the various major resellers who are supposed to market it. Although it is currently not available there, the player currently has a price of €350 at Amazon.
An exorbitant price for a product that we expect to receive directly with the console. With such a strategy, it is easy to imagine a world where games only exist in digital versions. No place for collectors, nor those with a poor internet connection. It must be believed that the demand for the product is so strong that the shortage was difficult to avoid, especially when the scalpers are in the game.
No news from Sony
They knew how to exploit this strong demand in their favor, and the populace found itself forced to bow to them. Something we do not recommend. Resales of this style should be avoided like the plague. You might as well wait for your store of choice to replenish its stock, which may take a little time. Better than spending an arm and a leg to play your favorite games.
On Ebay it is sold for up to €188.70, which is a lot to pay to be able to play the games you already own. We must not forget that the console is not cheap, at €799.99, without a disk drive. Add to that a price inflated by a lack of stock, and you end up with a console costing €1000, or even more if you're really desperate.
At the time of writing this article, Sony has still not officially responded to the situationwhich refers a little to the shortage of PS5 which lasted quite a while after its release. The disc reader, for its part, is detachable (necessarily) and is designed to read Blu-Ray, 4K, Ultra HD and DVD discs.
