Concretely, the latest security patches offered by the manufacturer for the Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, Galaxy Watch 5, Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic date back to March 1. For their part, the recent Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra are equipped with a software version dated June 1.
In short, if recent watches are entitled to a security patch dated five months ago, previous generation Galaxy Watches have a version dated eight months ago.
A promise of a “quarterly” update far from being kept
Where the problem lies is that Samsung promises, on its website, “ quarterly security updates », so every four months, for its entire range of connected watches under Wear OS.
On the same page, however, the firm indicates that “ OS updates may delay scheduled security updates “. So Samsung may be working hard on updating older models to One UI 6 Watch. This could also be an opportunity for Samsung to update its Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra, already based on One UI 6 Watch, to integrate the security patch in question.
