Mark Zuckerberg predicts the end of the smartphone, here is the replacement – La Nouvelle Tribune

Mark Zuckerberg sees far, very far even. And according to him, the smartphone is coming to an end. Indeed, according to the boss of Meta, which is the company behind Facebook, WhatsApp, Threads and Instagram, the telephone as we know it is set to disappear. What could then replace it?

According to the American billionaire, smart glasses could become the new standard in the years to come. By 2030, in just 5 years, these technological gadgets could therefore take over. To justify his idea, the latter uses the example of desktop computers, gradually replaced by laptops, then smartphones.

Zuckerberg imagine la fin des smartphones

Smart glasses could thus take over and revolutionize the way we communicate or interact on a day-to-day basis. However, smartphones should not disappear entirely and will complement these completely new pairs of glasses. Zuckerberg is already imagining glasses powered by augmented reality, to access content, while keeping your hands free.

But can we really believe it? What would happen if you made a call, for example, or read content with a baby in your hands or on the road? The change would be total. However, many find it hard to believe it, remembering that all the innovations that were advocated by Zuckerberg turned out to be a failure (Facebook aside).

Connected glasses to replace them

We particularly remember his Metaverse project, which was simply abandoned after its development cost far too much. Another argument in favor of Zuckerberg's detractors, the catastrophic sales of Apple Vision Pro, which serve more as headphones than glasses, but which tend to demonstrate that people are obviously not yet ready to take the plunge.
