According to International Data Corporation (IDC), global tablet shipments reached 39.6 million units in the third quarter of 2024, an increase of 20.4% year-on-year.
Here’s what we know
Apple remains the market leader with 12.6 million tablets shipped, an increase of 1.4% compared to the previous year. Samsung ranks second with 7.1 million units sold, an increase of 18.3%, thanks to the success of the Galaxy Tab A9 series. Amazon came in third with 4.6 million tablets shipped and an impressive 111.3% growth due to high demand during Amazon Prime Day.
Huawei also performed well, with 3.3 million tablets shipped, an increase of 44.1% from the previous year. Lenovo completes the top 5 with 3 million devices sold and growth of 14.7%. Analysts note that growth in tablet sales is driven by increased demand for devices for work and play.
