Samsung introduced its latest entry-level smartphone Galaxy A16 5G in Europe last week. Today, the company officially launched the Galaxy A16 5G smartphone in the Indian markets with some minor changes. The successor to the Galaxy A15 5G smartphone comes with minor updates, mainly limited to the internal hardware of the smartphone.
Samsung has chosen the MediaTek chipset for the Galaxy A16 5G. The smartphone is equipped with a Dimensity 6300 processor, coupled with an Arm Mali-G57 GPU, 8 GB of RAM and an internal storage space of 256 GB, expandable up to 1.5 TB via a card slot microSD. On the other hand, the European version is equipped with an Exynos 1330 processor.
As for the software, the 5G compatible smartphone runs Android 14 based on OneUI 6.1. Samsung promises six major Android OS updates (up to Android 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20) and six years of security patches, until October 2030. The device specifications photo have not changed. Samsung has opted for the same sensors as those of the last generation of the Galaxy A15 5G smartphone. You will get a triple camera setup on the back, consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 5-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. On the front, you’ll find a 13-megapixel selfie camera.
This time, Samsung has slightly increased the overall size of the smartphone. It now measures 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.9mm, up from 160.1 x 76.8 x 8.4mm. The Galaxy A16 5G now features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the device comes with a 5,000mAh battery with 25W wired charging support . Additionally, the device is IP54 rated, which means it can easily withstand normal splashes of water.
The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G starts at INR 18,999 (around $225) for the base model with 8GB RAM and 128GB, while the 8GB RAM and 256GB model starts at INR 21,999 (around $261). It is available in blue, gold, black and light green. The Galaxy A16 5G smartphone is now available on the official Samsung website and Amazon India.
