X (formerly Twitter) is making a change to the blocking system. Other social networks like Blue Sky have spotted a large influx of new users.

Elon Musk promised it, X (formerly Twitter) is delivering. The billionaire is officially no longer the boss of the platform, but he remains its owner.

The social network has therefore announced the implementation of a significant policy change regarding the “block” function.

Blocked people will be able to see your posts

Gone is the ability to prevent a connected account from accessing your posts. From now on, the “block” function will no longer prevent a blocked person from accessing your content if it has been published “publicly”.

If your posts are set to public, accounts you’ve blocked will be able to see them, but they won’t be able to engage (like, reply, repost, etc.).

X Engineering

Officially this change in policy is made to promote transparency on the platform. Unofficially, Elon Musk’s account is one of the most blocked in the world and the businessman probably wants to get rid of the function.

So what will the “block” function be used for? Users registered on this list will not be able to respond to the post, share it or leave a comment. like.

With this policy change, X is endangering the presence of its application on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Both platforms require applications to offer “ the ability to block abusive users of the service ».

A new influx for Blue Sky

The Blue Sky social network has established itself as one of the main alternatives to X for several months. If its overall operation is very reminiscent of that of Twitter, Blue Sky also offers intelligent functions around the personalization of the algorithm and very precise parameters for blocking users.

According to Blue Sky, more than 100,000 people joined the social network in just 12 hours. It has also shown constant growth for several weeks.

At the end of August, 1 million users had joined Blue Sky from Brazil, when the country blocked access to X.
