In a preview version (22631) of Windows 11 23H2 accessible to members of the Windows Insider program via update KB5044380, Phone Link (Link with Windows) allows interact with your smartphone from the Start menu rather than using the dedicated application.

You will be able to check the battery level of your mobile, listen to received voice messages, view photos and continue recent activities started on your smartphone via the Windows 11 Start menu, reports Techradar. For some time now, Microsoft has completely redesigned the Start menu of its operating system. The idea is to make it a hub from which we can quickly access all the content that interests us. Moreover, Windows 11 uses AI to determine which programs and files you are likely to want to open.
To configure this function, your Android smartphone must be connected to your Windows 11 PC via Phone Link. You will then have to go to Settings > Personalization > Start to manage it as you see fit. iPhones are not currently supported, but Microsoft assures that compatibility with iOS is coming.
The integration of Phone Link with the Start menu being available in the Release Preview channel, we should not wait long before seeing it land on the stable versions of Windows 11, offered to all users. This may be the case as soon as the November cumulative update for Windows 11 23H2.
