Caterham 485 & 485 CSR Final Edition (2024): the end of a long road

The pitch

The Caterham 485 and 485 CSR have been in the catalog for a good decade, it is time for them to enjoy a deserved retirement and make way for newcomers. This special and limited series says goodbye to them.

Performances and specs

These two special series 485 and 485 CSR (wide chassis and inboard suspension) are equipped with the 2.0l Duratec Ford (dry sump). The 4-cylinder develops around 230 hp at a high speed of 8500 rpm for a torque of 205 Nm at 6300 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and sends its power via a limited-slip differential.

The baby’s weight is only 560 kg (605 for the CSR), which allows it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4″1 and then reach 224 km/h.

Despite this light weight, braking is provided by ventilated discs clamped by 4-piston calipers. The car is fitted with Toyo Proxes R888R and rests on a sports suspension.

The style

Each vehicle offers a choice of five premium paint finishes, exclusive satin black stripes and badges, a selection of special interior modifications and unique number plates. The nose with openings is that of the 620. The rear lights are LED, and the composite mudguards are classic on the 485 and Aero versions on the CSR.

485 detail 4

The 485 receives 13″ Black Apollo rims and the 485 CSR, 15″ Vulcan rims.

Inside (the term interior is quite relative in the case of a Seven…), we find new Sport Hex Black leather seats with Final Edition embroidery.

The costs

Cars available in right-hand or left-hand drive will be manufactured in limited numbers. There will be sixty 485 and twenty-five 485 CSRs.

The base price excluding tax is set at 67,495 euros, therefore around 81,000 euros including tax in France.
